I sent in a request early this morning to the clinic if they could somehow slot Cow Mau in for tomorrow. I’ve never been to this clinic before but the staff was so very kind, so we have a slot tomorrow!
Meanwhile, I’ve informed our vet that yesterday’s protocol did not seem to work at all. Perhaps the ketamine dosage was too low. I also opted for the oral Tramadol because the vet said the oral is more effective than the transdermal one, but nothing seems to be working this time.
This morning, Cow Mau did not want any other food except Hill’s KD canned food, which is actually the “worst” food for him because of its sticky texture. But it is the only food he was willing to eat.
I had to make sure the food was freshly taken out of the fridge so that it isn’t so sticky and I also had to make sure the lump is high (like a little tower) so that he could pick it up with his mouth. Somehow, when the food is flat, he cannot eat it.
That’s how I managed to feed him a little bit of food.
By afternoon, he wasn’t even interested in food anymore. So I syringed Aixia liquid food into his mouth, but each mouthful was very painful.
The vet said I could add Meloxicam liquid 0.1ml which I did, to help with the pain. It is an NSAID, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory.
For more feeding session this evening, and another one tomorrow morning and we should be getting the laser treatment. I really, really hope it provides some relief to Cow Mau.
His pain is really heart-breaking.
