I think it’s going to take many laser therapy for Cow Mau’s gingivostomatitis to heal.
Yesterday, after the treatment, his demeanour definitely improved. He seemed much more relaxed too. He was able to eat a little bit better upon returning home.
But by dinner time, the pain came back in full force.

I had to syringe-feed him for dinner.
This morning’s breakfast, he was able to lick some diluted Hill’s KD by himself. After a few licks, the pain came back in full force again so I had to syringe-feed him again.
I haven’t started on the Japanese tube feeding food yet. Keeping that for when it’s really necessary.
But even though the pain is back, Cow seemed happier. So I hope this means there is some relief. Well, nothing works overnight. I’m asking now if the next laser treatment can be done earlier instead of waiting for a whole week.

Doing the daily subcut of 60ml of fluids.
So far, there’s been no fast breathing like that night. That’s good.
I’ve googled for more information and I could see that some cats have a far more severe condition than Cow’s with their gingivostomatitis and yet they benefited from laser treatment. Maybe they are younger and not FIV+.
The vet also told me that she has a British shorthair mix cat who has worse gingivostomatitis than Cow’s and the cat is also FIV+, but much younger at 5-6 years old. That cat is also undergoing laser therapy.
But to be realistic, the vet did mention that we may not get a full relief; we may only be able to reduce the pain from a 10 to a 3 or 4. Well, for me, that’s really good enough.
ANY reduction in pain is good and most appreciated.
