Gerald’s setback (fever again)

We were all prepared to take Gerald home this morning, but the vet texted that Gerald’s fever went up again last night, to 39.4 degrees. Yesterday morning, it was 38.6 degrees, so it means the fever is back again. The vet wants to monitor him for another day.

We went to visit him and he looked okay, yowling as usual.

He didn’t want his raw chicken gizzards again, but I force fed some. Then, he ate a bit of canned chicken. We didn’t get to stay long as we had to go back to fetch Jayden from school. The vet was having back-to-back appointments so I didn’t get to speak with her too.

Now the vet has just texted that Gerald’s fever this morning was 38.9 degrees (creeping up). His glucose is stable at 9.2.

The plan now is to increase his IV-fluids and monitor his temperature. If the temperature doesn’t go down or keeps increasing, the vet will give anti-inflammatories.

Gerald’s shoulder wound is still swollen, but has not increased in size.

Looks like Gerald is not out of the woods yet.

Get well soon, Gerald.
