Gerald’s updates (temperature spiking and another swollen wound detected)

The vet just called to update.

It’s not good news.

Gerald’s temperature is spiking and it is now 40.1 degrees.

The vet found that his left back leg is swollen now and it is probably caused by another wound there which was previously undetected. The whole leg is swollen. Either this wound was not detected earlier because we failed to see it or it is only starting to fester now. The vet has given Gerald anti-inflammatories for now and placed ice packs into his cage.

Tomorrow, X-rays will be taken of this back leg to check for broken bones.

The vet might have to lance the shoulder wound tomorrow, but only if Gerald’s temperature comes down.

I only visited Gerald this morning.

Hope the anti-inflammatories will do their work and bring his fever down. Poor Gerald.
