Gerald’s updates (extended self-grooming time!)

Gerald was given an extended self-grooming session today.

His shoulder wound seems to have become much smaller now and when I take away his e-collar, he doesn’t try to feverishly lick the wounds at all. In fact, he grooms elsewhere. So, he was given a long grooming session this afternoon.

For his wound-cleaning, Jayden dragged a chair, stood up on it to “help” me. Too bad I couldn’t take any photos; it was the cutest scene. Jayden wanted to hold the syringe to flush the wound too. And he told Gerald to “say ahh…” (like at the doctor’s).

After we finished cleaning the wounds, Jayden led Gerald back to the bed, patted him and said, repeatedly, “Good boy, Gerald, good boy.”, which is what I always say to Gerald.

Children watch us and they learn best from example, don’t they?

And while I cleaned up the pantry counter, Jayden stayed with Gerald.

These are photos of Gerald’s extended grooming this afternoon.

The paw wound is healing very well.

The shoulder wound is also shrinking significantly.
