Gerald’s wound is healing very well

I showed a photo of Gerald’s wound to the vet while I was there and she said she would like to check the insides of the wound before it closes up. I had already made an appointment for Gerald on Thursday but the vet said by Thursday, the wound may have already closed up and she would not be able to determine if there is still infection inside. If there were, it could fester again.

So I called husband to bring Gerald down to the vet’s. I was still there with Juno.

Gerald came, yowling nonstop.

The vet managed to poke a cotton bud into the wound, turning a radius of half the length of a cotton bud all round. This is already an improvement because last week, she was able to poke the entire length of the cotton bud in. So, half of it has closed up.

An swab examination was done and there was no presence of any bacteria inside the wound, only inflammatory cells, so the wound is really healing well.

The paw wound has also healed.

All good for noisy ol’ Gerald!

The vet only extended his antibiotic (Clindamycin) for another five more days. Gerald’s temperature was 39.5 degrees. The vet said it’s okay, maybe his baseline temperature is a little higher than usual.

Early this morning’s photos.

After returning from the vet’s.

The healing is faster than I had anticipated, despite Gerald being FIV+.

P.S. He yowled all the way back in the car, and he continued yowling after reaching home.
