“As long as you eat”, Juno

In our cat household, the “as long as you eat” principle applies to seniors and those who are ill, so it applies to Juno now. This means, they can eat anything as long as they are willing to eat it.

Ever since Juno came down with the suspected mycoplasma infection, she lost her appetite and I’m doing my very best to make sure she eats at least four times a day now while on the road to recovery.

Today, her appetite hasn’t been fantastic, and since she didn’t want any other food, I had to resort of giving her canned chicken this time.

This afternoon, she ate a considerable amount of Cindy’s canned Tender Chicken. First time eating it.

As long as you eat, Juno.

I don’t know if it’s due to nausea that she’s turned off her normal food (Cubgrub). Maybe it is. Hopefully that’s the reason, then at least I can transition her back to it later, after she has recovered.

For her early dinner, she also only wanted canned food, so that’s what she got.

Then just now, I tried my luck with Cubgrub again. She rejected her usual Chicken, but ate the Quail.

This is good even though she didn’t eat as much as her usual amount. It’s understandable, she’s unwell. It’s good enough that she’s eating all by herself and doesn’t have to be force fed. For this, I’m grateful.

She usually indicates that she doesn’t want anymore by scratching beside the bowl. That was what Hiro used to do too, so that scratching action does worry me a bit. But Juno’s been doing it ever since, not just now.

Then, I tried my luck and offered some canned chicken. She ate that too.

Then, I thought what’s there to lose, just try some AD. Well, she ate that too!

So, it’s a really rojak supper here, but never mind. At least none of it is forced. She ate everything by herself.

Before eating, she was really weak and tired, but after this, she’s active again.

Food intake is so, so important for kittens, what more one who is sick.

Eat, Juno, and get well soon. I really hope Doxycycline works as the vet suspects it is a mycoplasma infection. One good thing, though, we think the swollen lymph nodes have really subsidied a lot today, based on our untrained palpation, that is.

During her good days, Juno used to eat more than Tabs and Riley at one meal. She could eat that much. Hopefully, we will see those happy days again soon.
