I’ve written about this before, but I thought I should share it again for the benefit of new readers.
All this while, Robin had always been smaller in size than Rey. Not only that, he is also very slim, so slim that if you look at him from above, he’s a “long” cat.
If you remember, when I took them all back from the adopter, Robin was the one who had the worst medical issue – ongoing diarrhoea which took a long time to resolve. He was also severely underweight. It took months to build back his health and he was eating well, but still very slim and “long”. But at least he was no longer underweight and was in good health.
Some months back, Robin had a balding issue. Initially I thought it was just a cosmetic issue, but around April-May this year, he started itching, so the vet recommended Advocate spot-on and also the Pro-Hex medicated shampoo. But actually, the vet said it could be a food allergy problem and advised me to limit his protein one by one to find out which protein he was allergic to. That would have been a massive undertaking (luckily we didn’t need to resort to that).
If you remember, the first spot-on was a bit of a disaster because Robin managed to turn his head back (being so slim, right?) and lick the medicine, resulting in foaming at the mouth and sheer panic on our part!
So in early May, I decided the shampoo would be a lot safer and we did four rounds of it over four weeks. By the second bath, Robin was already showing remarkable improvement in the balding. The itching stopped and his fur started growing back.
So, the balding problem was solved!
But it wasn’t just that…
For some reason, Robin started putting on weight as well and look at him now.
He’s as super solid as Rey!!
He is just a little smaller in size, but he is no longer thin and long. His fur is beautiful and his whole body is very muscular. Like “iron”!
He’s like a mini body-builder now, but still super manja!
Robin had always been close to me since he was born, and he still is.
While the Pro-Hex shampoo worked so remarkably well with Robin, it did not work for Tabs’ balding issue. For Tabs, she needed Advocate spot-on.
To each their own!
P.S. I’m so thankful Robin’s problem was not due to a food allergy!
