Visiting Juno this morning (still has diarrhoea)

As I was on my way to visit Juno this morning, the vet texted that Juno is alert, but still had pasty stools through the night. And while she is willing to eat the ID when syringe-fed, she is still not eating on her own yet.

When I arrived, Juno was definitely very happy and excited to see me. The vet assistant said the diarrhoea through the night was “bad and watery”. I saw it on the towel, it was quite watery too, but there was some solid matter as well. Juno had just finished all her food, syringe-fed.

Hi, Juno Bright Eyes!

I brought along her favourite toy, but she didn’t want to play with it. She was definitely alert, though.

Taking a nap on my lap. Even the vet assistant remarked that she’s very manja to her too.

The vet came by to explain all the treatment for Juno. Today, she added Promax, the probiotic. Hopefully this will help form the stools. She advised that since Juno still has diarrhoea, she can get dehydrated very easily as she is so small, so it’s best she stays on the drip for hydration. This means, most likely Juno cannot be discharged yet. Not until the diarrhoea stops and her stools are well-formed. Otherwise, she will be losing a lot of water through the diarrhoea. Also, she’s still not eating by herself yet. But the improvement is that she’s not rejecting syringe-fed food. She eats it willingly. Another concern is the slow weight gain for the last month. Ever since her first vaccination, she had not gained much weight. We don’t know why this is so. The vet thinks maybe her immunity isn’t too good. Her appetite also had not been as good as when first rescued.

She vet asked me to try offering some RC Kitten kibble. There was already a bowl there. So I tried.

She ate!!! All by herself.

Not much, but it’s a good start. She ate for about 3 minutes. All by herself. That’s a milestone!

I let her groom herself off-collar for awhile.

I’ll be taking Ginger and Tabs for their 2-month check-up this afternoon and will visit Juno again.
