An update: I got the wrong cat, it’s Ginger, not Smurfy. So Smurfy got a bonus probiotic, which is harmless.
The original post:
When you are looking after many cats, the work is endless.
Smurfy had been “acting up”, refusing to eat his regular food and preferring kibble for many days now.
Today, I saw loose stools in the sandpit and upon checking the CCTV, it is most likely from Smurfy.
He didn’t eat with the rest also, and chose to remain inside the big cage. I had to shake the kibble jar to get him to come out.
He did, and I managed to give him the Feline Gut Soothe probiotic. If it’s a minor problem, this usually works very well.
Then, he went back into the big cage and stayed there.
Or is this a consequence of the big fight that he had with Robin the other day? Hard to tell.
The rest had all eaten dinner, only Smurfy hadn’t.
So I offered him various types of food, all of which he rejected.
I thought a bowl of raw chicken breast meat would be good for him, but I think he just sniffed at it. The thing is, I have to close the curtain before he would respond to the food, so I don’t really know, but I thought he was eating it. After awhile, I checked and the pieces of chicken was still in the bowl.
Finally, I offered RC Renal kibble, something familiar which he had eaten before. Also, it’s so palatable.
I think he ate some, because I did not count the number of pellets and after I checked, there were still some left behind.
Lynx had gone up the cage to keep Smurfy company and Rey was in the lower compartment downstairs. Both offering moral support to their eldest brother.
Smurfy is their eldest brother, from an earlier litter. Minnie brought skinny tiny little Smurfy to our house during the MCO to ask for help. She was in early pregnancy and was jaundiced. Then, she gave birth in our house to Rey, Robin, Rio and Lynx.
Hence, Smurfy is the biological eldest brother.
And Uncle Ginger is their mentor and their hero!
I hope Feline Gut Soothe does the trick and I don’t have to take Smurfy to the vet’s. There have been too many vet visits lately!
