Smurfy’s loose stools and Robin the hero

Smurfy showed me that he had loose stools at 8.36am just now. It’s also blood-tinged, so I’m going to take him to the vet’s.

It’s endless, isn’t it?

Well, of course it is, when does sickness and aging ever end for any living being, right? That’s just life.

Smurfy actually waited for me to sit at the computer (where I have a view of the sandpit boxes), then he scratched vigorously to attract my attention before passing out these stools. If that’s not a call of help, I don’t know what is. So yes, of course I will take him to the vet’s.

Earlier on, I managed to catch him to feed him only 1.5ml Kaolin-Pectin, but he was shocked by the unpalatable taste and managed to escape to the lookout before I could finish the dosage. Husband was helping me scruff him, but Smurfy was stronger and escaped.

I did not think I would be able to get him back down, surely he won’t trust me anymore, but I poured out kibble for the Blondies and he actually came down. Guess he is hungry because I’ve only been giving him small meals today. So I let him eat some kibble (we cannot “trick” them, that would be disrespectful), then I caught him again. This time I was alone, one hand scruffing him and the other hand with the syringe of the remaining 1ml of Kaolin-Pectin. Luckily I managed to feed the balance of it with some struggle, then off he ran off, but little did I know, Robin was watching the whole thing and decided to play hero to “punish” Smurfy.

So Robin attacked him, and they were embroiled in a lock-body fight. This resulted in Robin having a small cut in his ear. It bled a little, but I’ve since cleaned it with Clorhexidine and applied Fustadin to it.

Robin, my hero. Thank you for helping me, Robin, but we don’t solve problems by fighting. But I appreciate your brave gesture and the kind thought, Robin.

Robin and Smurfy do get into fights every now and then.

Boys will be boys!
