Ginger is back, safe and sound!
We had made trips all over the neighbourhood to look for Ginger and at the same time, Gerald had come back and I kept asking him to help look for Ginger and tell Ginger to come home.
Gerald went to the neighbour’s roof and stayed there to show us “something”. I guess Ginger was on the neighbour’s roof so I kept calling, but he wouldn’t come down.
Where is Ginger, Gerald? Please tell him to come home.
Then, I decided to look at the CCTV footage to see exactly what had happened. From the footage, the assistant grass-cutter had actually left Stargate wide open. Ginger was just right there, on the platforms and he didn’t even immediately go out. He waited and had a whole minute to decide whether to escape or not. But when he did, he went as quick as lightning. Then the two grass-cutters caught him in the drain, held him by his hind legs, handed him over to husband, but Ginger bit him twice and he had to let him go.
I was worried in case the grass-cutters had injured Ginger’s hind legs and that is why he couldn’t come back. It was coming to six hours since he escaped at 10.45am. But Ginger looked fine in the CCTV footage when he scaled Stargate to escape to the ledge.
Right after that, I went to the catio and started calling again. Then I saw Akira’s eyes transfixed in the direction of the neighbour’s roof. It was transfixed for long enough for me to be sure she was looking at “something”, so husband and I quickly went upstairs so that we could get a better view of the neighbour’s roof.
Sure enough, right there….was Ginger!! He was on the neighbour’s roof trying to make his way back, but was afraid to cross the gutter. So husband quickly went to bring kibble and his metal bowl. The aroma and the sound should be enough to encourage Ginger to cross the gutter.
And he did, right to me at the window and I pulled him in! Phew…safe and sound! I let him eat first then only brought him down to back to his welcoming committee.
Your mentor is home!!
Thank you, Akira.
The biggest hero of today – Gerald. He was right, he went to the roof and told us that Ginger was there.
Thank you, Gerald!
I have set a new rule in the house now, whenever the grass-cutters come, Ginger goes into the big cage, locked up.
I’ve informed the grass-cutter (he felt really bad, but it was his assistant’s carelessness), all the security guards and of course, given thanks to the Chinese Kitchen God too.
