When Ginger aka Bumbung Cat escaped yesterday, I relied heavily on the reactions of the Monsters to gauge Ginger’s whereabouts and his condition.
I had not written about this yesterday because I wasn’t sure how accurate my perceptions and assumptions were but with the benefit of hindsight now, they were pretty spot-on accurate!
Firstly, since Gerald was our only free-roaming cat, we asked him many times to help look for Ginger and get him to come home. Gerald accurately went onto the the neighbour’s roof and actually stayed there to tell us that’s where Ginger was.
“He’s here, he’s right here…”
Then, throughout the six hours that Ginger was missing, I kept watching the reactions of the Monsters, especially Minnie’s because she would be the closest to Ginger. Initially, everyone was on high alert and they looked very worried. But after two hours or so, everyone was very relaxed. Minnie was sleeping on the armchair, without a care in the world. I kept asking them to tell Ginger to come home, but they all looked relaxed. From that reaction, I guessed that Ginger wasn’t injured in any way and wasn’t in danger. If he had been injured or was still stressed, Minnie wouldn’t have slept so comfortably.
I guess I was correct. Ginger must have been sleeping on the neighbour’s roof for those few hours.
This was at lunch time where I hoped the sound of the kibble would attract Ginger to come home, but it did not.
Finally, it was Akira who gazed transfixed at the neighbour’s roof. Only she could get a view that high from her lookout. That’s when I knew instantly that something very significant was on the roof – Ginger! I was right.
It takes a village, doesn’t it? A feline village and the camaraderie that they have fostered.
Even in the past too, whenever Ginger escaped, I always watched the reactions of the Monsters to gauge how Ginger was or when he quietly turned up in the garden without a sound. The Monsters would show some reaction.
