The buffet-styled dining which I created for the Blondies seems to be working well. It is definitely less stressful for me, of course. And as long as I keep my expectations really low, this sure beats me having to chase after each of them every meal to beg them to eat and to try various foods until I hit the “correct” one for each cat in each meal.
Now, I just lay out various types of food. Eat what you like.
It starts off with various types of raw food and perhaps, some canned and cooked food. If that fails, only then kibble is offered and kibble always works with these junkies.
Let’s take a look at today’s success…
It started with a plate of Cindy’s canned food (specially for Kai) and a plate of Cubgrub. Kai went for the Cindy’s. Nobody went for the Cubgrub.
Next, I put a plate of cut-up raw chicken breast meat and two plates of kibble. Kai and Samantha went for the kibble, but Kai had already eaten her Cindy’s by then. Akira is interested and thinking of which food she should eat.
Of course she went for the kibble.
Indra did not come at all, so I broke protocol and decided to serve her.
She ate the plate of Cubgrub!! Aha…success!
And I’ve noticed with the Blondies that if you lay out various types of food, they may go for the favourite tasty crunchy kibble first, but somehow, they might just go for the raw food after that. It has happened before.
And…it did again today!
Samantha’s going for the Cubgrub and Kai is going for the cut-up breast meat. Yay! That would be three Blondies eating raw food this morning sans Akira (well, never mind).
The Cubgrub is almost finished, the chicken breast meat is totally finished and Indra is polishing up the plate of kibble and I’d say, this is a win! Yay!
In fact, over at Ginger’s Catio, I’ve been doing the buffet-styled dining as well since Smurfy is very choosy and only wants to eat after everyone has finished. Robin and Minnie too have their days.
It’s a semi-buffet for the Monsters as well this morning and it worked. So much less stressful for me!
