Way back in 2010, in our second year, we were very gung-ho and we did pound rescues. First, I joined another organisation in the Puchong Pound rescue, then we did the Klang Pound rescue and in 2010, we did the Selayang Pound rescue. And Klang again after that. Very gung-ho at that time. No more now.
So, we rescued 23 puppies from the Selayang Pound and took nine of the sickly-looking ones to the clinic for a medical check-up: https://animalcare.my/2010/02/25/from-selayang-pound-straight-to-the-vets/
In this post above, you’ll see me plucking out close to 300 ticks from this pup I named Husky. No kidding, 300 or more ticks. Luckily I am not squeamish with ticks because way back in my childhood, I plucked out ticks from Puffin and Remirth on a daily basis. We lived in the government quarters where sometimes cows would come into our compound. Hence, ticks were a daily affair. No deticking medicines worked. You can’t beat them, you join them, so to speak.
Husky was adopted by my friend and renamed Pepper. Today, she sent me this photo collage:
Pepper is now 14 years old and thriving under her loving care!!!
It is such happy adoption stories that make it so worthwhile doing all that we do.
Thank you so much for adopting a local pup, my friend, especially one rescued from the pound! Thank you so much for looking after her so well.
Please adopt and don’t buy. Street puppies and kittens need homes.
