A cat cure for my diarrhoea?

I have another story to share today.
Remember the Augmentin-induced diarrhoea that I have to endure for the duration of the course of the antibiotics (7 days)? I have found out that there is no other way. Just tahan saja. The diarrhoea isn’t exactly THAT bad, but I don’t dare go out. I got to stay near a toilet.
Cold Coca Cola is out – it interferes with the workings of the antibiotic. Strong teas are out – they interfere too.
Then…I suddenly remembered that whenever my cats get diarrhoea, I would give them a yeast probiotic called saccharomyces boulardii. This is the go-to solution for diarrhoea amongst cat caregivers. And I’ve got the standby supply right there in the cat corner of my kitchen! Silly me….why didn’t I think of it?
So I asked my pharmacist if I could try and he said yes. It might help you. And the important thing is, exactly WHEN do I take it? He said since it’s a yeast probiotic (and not a bacteria probiotic), I should take it together with the diarrhoea-causing Augmentin. It will definitely not interfere with the antibiotic. This I already know, my vets taught me well.
A quick search over the internet also says to take it the moment diarrhoea begins. In this case, I’m already late because I didn’t think of it earlier. But never mind, better late than never.
Then, yesterday, I remembered something else that I do for my cats with diarrhoea – steamed pumpkin! It sometimes works like a charm. Again, how utterly stupid of me not to think of this cat diarrhoae hack!!!
So I took steamed pumpkin in a barley drink yesterday and guess what?
The diarrhoea has improved so, so, so, so much!!
Note to self: When sick, think of what you do for your cats. The same remedies might just work for humans too!
