Gerald’s yowling (talking)

Yesterday, while I was doing my mandatory morning walk, Gerald was yowling at the park.

A very kind elderly gentleman who also does his walk in the park and has a compassionate heart for animals kept telling me, “Your cat is looking for you”. I felt so bad, so I explained that Gerald is just very talkative and there is actually nothing wrong with him. He talks all day.

Digressing, this elderly gentleman and his wife both believe that it’s our rightful duty to be kind to animals even though they are not pet parents. It is in their culture. Isn’t this great? In fact, the gentleman calls Gerald my “son”.

Back to Gerald’s story now…

I cannot let Gerald “imprison” me and disallow me to do my morning walks as I need the exercise.

This morning, I got up at 4.30am and came downstairs. Of course Gerald was already in the porch and he was yowling. I know, he wants breakfast. This yowling is probably saying, “I’m hungry, feed me, feed me, don’t let me starve, I’m hungry, I need food”.

So I quickly fed him and he ate.

Then, he started yowling again, and this is probably saying, “I’ve eaten, I’ve eaten, I’ve eaten, everyone, I’ve eaten.”

As he was announcing to the world that he had eaten, I fed the rest.

But it’s just 5.00am in the morning and the whole environment is so quiet. Humans are still asleep. I need him to keep quiet, please, but what could I do?

Bring him into the house, but that won’t work as I’ve done that so many times. He will yowl even louder because he wants to go back out.

So he went yowling from the porch to the back of the house (where Creamy lives), annoucing to everyone that he had eaten.

Before he went to the back, he stopped by Ginger’s Catio and decided to announce, “I’ve eaten, I’ve eaten, have you all eaten too? What did you eat?”

Finally, after an hour or so, he has stopped yowling and is now happily and contently sleeping on top of husband’s car.

I’m waiting for the sun to come out so that I can walk in the sunshine. I hope by then, Gerald would have gone off somewhere else so that he won’t “imprison” me.

P.S. Oh, Creamy just came so Gerald has gone off now. He’s afraid of Creamy. Honestly, what is he not afraid of?
