I know that “Saying NO to Fireworks” is going to fall on deaf eyes of those who don’t care about animals and the environment. Why, it might even incur their wrath as I did last year when I made a plea to my neighbourhood.
So, all the best to those who still hope that the animal-haters will grow some empathy in their hearts. I really wish you all the best.
For those who might not remember why fireworks was legalised in our country, here is the 2023 news (it was this present government that legalised it): https://www.malaymail.com/news/malaysia/2023/02/03/nga-kor-ming-federal-govt-agrees-to-legalise-firecrackers-fireworks/53248#google_vignette
Below are some posters that might help if you want to try and convince the animal-haters not to light up.
But for the rest of us, let’s keep our animals safe. Please scroll down for posters on this too.
As I’m writing this, someone just started lighting up already. So, they are even starting today. Brace yourself for 17 more days then, until the 15th day of CNY. As an ethnic Chinese, I am totally ashamed of what the Chinese still practise today (lighting up firecrackers and fireworks for festivals) despite so much talk about looking after the environment. It totally baffles me why harmful traditions have to be kept. Is it going to kill them if they don’t light up?
