Last night, I didn’t manage to get Gerald back on time before the playground in front of our house was turned into a “war zone” with that one family lighting up fire crackers and fireworks. I could only hope that Gerald was hiding somewhere safe.
The noise was thunderous, so loud that we could not even watched television.
Tabs, Juno and Riley were so afraid and shocked each time the ear-splitting booms thundered. I was shocked too. We had to open the storeroom for Tabs and Juno. They felt safer hiding amongst the things inside the storeroom where the space was small enough.
The Monsters all hid in the big cages. Inside Bunny’s Place, the Blondies hid under the bed.
This morning, I was so relieved when Gerald came back safe and sound for breakfast.
And this evening, I have already got him back into Bunny’s Place with his family. He’s safe and sound inside the house now.
We are bracing ourselves for another round of “war” tonight.
Meanwhile, I think Creamy’s owners have gone off for a holiday again because Creamy seems more hungry than usual. Luckily he knows how to tell me he’s still hungry so I can give him more food.
Here are some photos of Gerald and Creamy taken over two days.
Safe and sound this morning.
Whenever Creamy’s owner is away, I’ll find Creamy coming more often for food, or after his usual snack, he will look at me to ask for more.
Meanwhile, JoTong also went out on the first day of CNY to check and do a headcount of the Balakong Street Dogs during her feeding rounds.
She says the fireworks and fire crackers at this particular place was terrible, but luckily on the next morning, all the 20 dogs in this area came out to greet her.
This is the type of worry and stress we all have to endure, whether it’s indoor or outdoor animals, more so for the outdoor animals.
As I write this now, the war has already started at the back road. At least those people there are lighting up the more “conventional” crackers which don’t give out the ear-splitting raucous booms.
