As far as possible, I ensure that Tabs, Riley and Juno’s breakfast consists of wet food. This is quite challenging because Riley and Juno are kibble-queens. And both eat very little, so I cannot soak the kibble in water as it will not get eaten up fast enough and it might spoil once it is soaked.
But for the Blondies, I have achieved a breakthrough!
I have been consistently adding water to their kibble and they have got used to eating soaked kibble now. At least by doing so, I can increase their water consumption.
Previously, they would stage a walk-out, boycott and hunger strike, but they have relented now and are willing to eat soaked kibble.
What a breakthrough!
Firstly, they are all kibble queens, especially Akira. Samantha, Indra and Kai can be persuaded to eat raw food and canned food, but Akira still prefers kibble.
Secondly, kibble is just too dry and cats don’t have a natural thirst drive, so I have to add water to it. By doing so, they get the “complete” meal of the kibble and drink water as well.
The only snag is that kibble is carb-heavy, has a lot of additives and is processed.
You can’t win them all, especially when your cats insist on eating kibble. They just like to crunch their food.
Come, Akira, come and eat.
The good thing with the Blondies is they are willing to share the plates of food. Our Monsters do not share, they want their own plates/bowls. If you don’t give them separate bowls, they will just wait and stare at you.
Juno joins them.
Juno eats with them!
This is good. Juno is also eating soaked kibble now.
That leaves only Riley whom I have to teach to eat soaked kibble. This would be challenging because Riley is a grazer.
