Now, what is this Kyllinga Brevifolia?
Well, it’s a very common weed that you see practically everywhere but it’s also Juno and Riley’s favourite grass!
The clump we’ve planted here doubles up as a mini jungle for Juno and she loves “hiding” in it.
This is a close-up of the Kyllinga Brevifolia, and its common Malaysian name is, aptly, “rumput kucing”!

My mum calls it the “Sam Kok Chou”, which is Cantonese for “three-cornered grass” and I remember she says it has medicinal value and her grandmother used it for this purpose by boiling the grass in water and drinking it.
Disclaimer: This was my great-grandmother’s recipe. It has no scientific backing, so please do your own research, or better still, don’t even try it!
