Poor little Juno. The biggest bully in Bunny’s Place now is Indra. It used to be Kai, but now Indra has overtaken her eldest sister as being the top bully. Akira is a very gentle cat and is friends with little Juno. It’s the two ginger girls who are rowdy bullies.
Poor Juno. She loves going to Bunny’s Place every morning to eat the Kyllinga Brevifolia grass and to play (exercise) on the platforms. But Indra gives her a hard time. This morning, I heard screaming from inside and I rushed in to find Indra near Juno. I know, it’s Indra again. Well, who asked me to name Indra after a deity of thunder, lightning, storms, rain, and warfare, right? What did I expect? A mild-mannered gentle girl? Indra is not even a girl’s name! But I gave her the strongest name because she was the runt of the litter, rejected by Samantha. I handraised her. Look at her now – the biggest of the three! And a bully!
Husband had an idea the other day as he too was fed-up with little Juno getting bullied every day. So he said the next time Indra bullies Juno, we should put her (Indra) in Ginger’s Catio and let her get a taste of the wolf pack.
Let me refresh your memory in case you don’t remember how our Monsters function – they function as a wolf pack. Yes, yes, I know, they are not descended from wolves, but they function as a wolf pack. Previously, when Cow Mau entered Ginger’s Catio (this was when Cow Mau was already quite old), the Monsters would surround him, like wolves do. They just surrounded him, but didn’t dare do anything to our Super-Super Senior. On the other hand, when Indy entered Ginger’s Catio, Indy couldn’t be bothered about whatever wolf pack rules or rituals they had, he just went about his business and bulldozed his way to the platforms, did whatever he wanted and sat at the platforms like, “I’m in charge, you young ‘uns haven’t seen what I can do”. The Monsters didn’t even dare surround Indy.
I had rightly named Indy after my hero, Indiana Jones.
So this morning, when I heard Juno screaming, I was fed-up of Indra’s bullying too. So I rescued Juno, put her back to the Safehouse, scooped up Indra and put her in Ginger’s Catio. My goodness….
Rey went after her immediately. The rest of the Monsters couldn’t be bothered at all, as though saying, “Heh…such a small fry? Rey can handle her!” I was right there to monitor the situation and I stopped Rey immediately, so it didn’t get to the fur-flying bit, just rolling on the floor and lots of noise. Indra got a shock of her life and I was worried the sudden stress might have done her harm, but so far, she’s been okay. Just a little subdued.
Ginger did come to the scene with his forever-innocent face, but I wasn’t sure if Ginger was coming to help out a fellow ginger cat or to help his mentee, Rey. I didn’t wait to find out, I stopped Rey’s advancing aggression and calmed Indra down so that I could scoop her up and put her back to safety. It was perhaps just 10 seconds of aggression from Rey.
The face of a victim, eh?
We let Juno in to eat grass again with Indra back at Bunny’s Place. But we stayed to ensure Juno did not get bullied.
The ginger girls just watched Juno. There were no bullying attempts.
Juno tipped the scales at 2.83kg yesterday. Small increments in her weight, but good enough, according to the vet. I don’t think she is going to be a big cat, so she is going to need protection all the way.
However, having said that, Cleo was also a small-sized cat, but she ruled Bunny’s Place, didn’t she? She was the queen! A solid Calico Queen!
