When I drove down to the guardhouse on my way out this evening, the guard was so excited and pointed towards Kelly eating the canned food from her new plate!
He says she loves the canned food I brought this morning. I’m so glad, but I’m trying to figure out whether it’s Back2Nature or Cindy’s Original, because I brought three flavours for her.
In any case, I’ve also bought a new stainless steel bowl for Kelly’s water, along with a sponge for cleaning it. So she has all her supplies now. The guards take really good care of her and she’s happy staying there.
“Dia suka bebas”, as the guard says. I respect that. I also know that being free and outdoors come with risks, but it’s her living-in-the-moment happiness that counts the most.
Licking her lips! Yummy food!
I remember talking with a vet recently about supplements for CKD cats, or any cat with a terminal disease. He said that matters most is the animal’s wellbeing and comfort. He was of the opinion that if the animal refuses or finds it stressful to be force fed medicine, then don’t do it. So what if the medicine can extend their life by six months, but what a stressful six months that would be. Might as well let them live happily and comfortably instead.
That’s food for thought, isn’t it? Ultimately, it’s not the quantity of life but the quality.
