Many of our Heliconia plants were infected with some disease or eaten by insects, so we had to ask the gardener to remove the infected leaves and even whole plants.
This cleared up the Catio quite a bit, and it affected the Monsters.
I didn’t think it would have affected them so badly, because only the Heliconias were removed, the Thaumatococcus remained and these are all shorter. This was unlike last year’s cobra scare where we practically removed everything and “balded” the catio. Minnie was extremely angry at that time. Her jungle was gone!
On the first day after the clearing up, which was yesterday, they refused to use their litter trays. There was zero faeces in them. Before this, there were just a few straggly Heliconias at this spot, but those had to be removed and so, this exposed the litter trays.
I don’t know where they defecated, really. I could not find their faeces. But by afternoon, they relented and started using the trays again.
This morning, it was back to normal. Luckily! Phew!!
See? Only the tall Heliconias were gone. The short Thaumatococcus are intact. But it looks “cleared up”, doesn’t it? Less of a jungle vibe?
This is the most affected area – the litter trays. It’s too exposed now. But luckily, they have started using them again today.
If the Big Boss says “jalan”, semua jalan.
Luckily males aren’t as fussy as females.
