A message from JoTong: We have received the delivery of food aid from AvantPet with many many thanks. It’s a whopping 36 bags of kibbles and a huge pallet of 20 cartons of canned food for Balakong dogs and also 18 cartons of pate canned food for the 9 puppies. Thank you so so much and double thumbs up from Uncle Wong 👍🏻👍🏻.

The photos below  show the colony where many dogs and puppies were abandoned. The mother-dog has been spayed and all puppies vaccinated. The puppies are being fostered now and we are supplying pate canned food for them.

From JoTong: I have got a fosterer to help take care the puppies for 1 mth. Just couldn’t left them there as they started to follow their mum all over the place… The mama has been spayed, all puppies vaccinated. This dumping case, after spaying them, I found them to be lethargic and coughing. I brought those whom let me touch them and after test, found them to have tick fever and kennel cough. I now feed them medicine twice a day and the vet gave me medicine for those having the same symptoms but I am unable to catch them. Now after a few days of medications, they are way much better.

Here are the 18 cartons of pate food for the puppies and a latest photo of them, active and happy!

Tong Yut Fun (JoTong) and Wong Woi Kan feed about 165 street dogs in the Balakong area. Every dog that they can catch is neutered, most of them returned to colony (unless the dog has special needs) and managed for life with dedication and commitment. The younger puppies are rehomed, adult dogs with special needs are either rehomed or relocated to spaces which are safer for them and sick dogs are given medical treatment. Collectively, they have got 75 dogs neutered on their own previously and under our aid, 187 animals (mostly dogs and a few cats). They continue to get street dogs vaccinated and neutered now, sometimes sponsored by friends.

Uncle Wong works as a mechanic while JoTong works as an admin executive in the human resource department at her workplace. They take turns to feed the dogs daily. Besides the canned food and kibble that we provide, they also cook rice, sometimes Uncle Wong adds chicken parts he manages to salvage from eateries. They also supplement with economically-priced kibble on their own. It is a daunting and very challenging task to feed more than 150 dogs every single day, rain or shine. Besides the expenses, there is the issue of time and energy too. With so many dogs to take care of, the dogs do have other medical issues as well, and JoTong feeds them vitamins and supplements to ensure they remain in reasonably good health. All these expenses are from herself.

We offer our food aid to this large colony of street dogs under JoTong and Uncle Wong’s care because of their exemplary CNRM work where the dogs are neutered, given veterinary care and good nutrition, rehomed where possible and the return-to-colony ones are managed for life with love. We hope the dogs will  enjoy the premium kibble and canned food! According to JoTong, the dogs really like the food that we provide and passers-by have commented that the dogs look very healthy.

Here are some latest photos of JoTong and Uncle Wong with the dogs. They really go to extraordinary lengths to ensure every single dog is fed and no dog is left hungry. Every single day.
