Tabs came on her own to our old house in November 2011 one night, wearing an oversized red collar. She followed my husband home.

There she is! This is the very night that Tabs first came to our house.

She was super confident and marched all the way into the house. The first thing she did was touch noses with Uncle Bobby (our senior dog)! She somehow knew who the “boss” was. Of course Uncle Bobby accepted her and Tabs tried to make herself at home.

But Tabs’ residency in our house didn’t last long. Cow Mau and Cleo decided to give her a hard time and they chased her out from upstairs. Tabs was so scared, she ran for her life, defecated along the way, out of the upstairs window and managed to find her way back to the street. I went looking for her and found her rummaging someone’s dustbin where she had found a piece of bone to eat. Poor Tabs. I just had to bring her back.
Because she was wearing a collar, I was sure she was someone’s lost pet, so I went around the neighbourhood asking if she belonged to anyone. No one claimed her and no one wanted to adopt her too. So we decided to adopt her and bring her along to our new house with our whole clan. We moved in early January 2012. Before that, I got her spayed too and the vet estimated her age to be about 7 months.
Right from the start, Tabs was already litter box trained. None of our other cats were, but Tabs insisted on using only the litter box for all her toilet needs.

Here we are, at our new house. Tabs came to us just in the nick of time for us to bring her along.

Tabs’ famous pose – the crossed legs.

Tabs’ only feline friend was Tiger. Cow and Bunny bullied them and even sprayed urine on them. Tabs and Tiger were the victims as both were so docile and non-aggressive, so they had each other for comfort and friendship.

After Tiger passed away, Tabs did not find any new feline friends. Instead, she became friends to us. From then on, Tabs’ friends were all humans.

Even though Tabs didn’t have any special cat-friend after Tiger, she got along with all the cats.

Tabs had no enemies and definitely had never picked a fight with anyone at all.

In October 2013, Tabs suddenly became very, very sick with high fever. The first two vets diagnosed her wrongly and wanted to open her up. Luckily I took her to a third vet. Actually, Tabs had a bad infection after eating wheatgrass and was hospitalised for 4 days, fighting for her life. I camped at the clinic to feed her and ensure she took all her medicines (photo above). She was very easy to nurse because she was so obliging and obedient. Thankfully, she pulled through and all was well again. That was the only time that Tabs was ever hospitalised.

Tabs had a lot of close-up photos because she was very photogenic!

When Riley came, Tabs accepted her but kept her distance. Tabs was never ever aggressive to any other cat, but she preferred the company of humans. Tiger was her only cat-friend.

Tabs’ favourite past-time was to sit on my lap at the computer. She made it her duty.

Then, Juno came and Tabs accepted her too, but as always, she kept her distance.

Tabs loved sharing my pillow.

Tabs was totally accepted by the Monsters too. She could come out to the catio and use their cat tree. Nobody bullied her.

Tabs loved serai (lemongrass) so we always ensured she had some.

Sharing food with Juno.

Tabs was a very Zen cat.

A Zen cat who loved human affection.

Tabs also did her share of baby-sitting duties.

Tabs’ famous cat walk!

This is something I will definitely miss for a long time – Tabs on my lap.

Our loyal and faithful companion.

Thank you so much for coming into our lives, Tabs.
While we will grieve our loss and will miss you so much, the sweet memories you have given us will live on in our hearts for a long, long time.
