Minnie-4’s great escape

Yes, Minnie, Rey, Robin and Lynx ESCAPED from their two-bedroom apartment this evening.

But, I found them and got them back safely already…haha.

Phew!

Here’s the problem – one of the bedroom’s door has a very tricky handle. There is a technique to close the door properly. I know how to do it, though. You have to close it, then pull the handle really tightly until you hear a latching sound. Only then is it properly closed. If not, when there is any wind, the door will open by itself.

That’s what happened this evening.

I was in Bunny’s Garden clearing some of the debris left behind by the contractors when I heard the loud slamming of an upstairs bedroom door. I quickly rushed out and the moment I opened Bunny’s grille, to my horror, I saw Minnie right there. She had already come downstairs.

Luckily nowadays I am really as calm as a cat.

So I calmly picked her up and took her back upstairs. That’s when I saw that the door was ajar.

And looking across to our bedroom (luckily we keep the door open nowadays), I saw Rey on Tabs’ lookout in our bedroom. Robin was on the floor mooching around. So again, very calmly, I put Minnie back in their room and I walked over to our bedroom and closed the door.

I waited for awhile, then I went inside and managed to catch Rey and put him back. Then, I did the same with Robin.

That leaves Lynx and Smurfy. Where are these two?

I went back to the two bedrooms and found Smurfy hiding behind the mirror. Okay, Smurfy was too scared to even escape.  Good boy….

Where is Lynx?

I looked everywhere in the two bedrooms and the bathroom. I looked twice. I flipped everything. Lynx was nowhere to be found.

It was only then that I went down to tell husband that I think Lynx may have escaped from our house.

Before that, I had searched the entire house three times. Couldn’t find Lynx.

Now, the only way that Lynx could have escaped would be to push open the patio door and go to the patio. It would have been a piece of cake for Lynx to escape from the present patio. It’s still not ready yet. The nettings haven’t been installed. Worse, if Lynx had somehow got to Bunny’s Place – he would have escaped with blindfolds on. The netting at Bunny’s Place have been taken down for three days now (thankfully, Indy and Cleo’s escaping days are over).

These two contractors are taking their own sweet time with this job. In a way, it’s good, as it gives Bella’s birdies more time to grow up before the nettings are installed. We have also paid more for nettings with large enough holes for a bird to fly through (but not for a cat to escape). Yes, we had to pay more for this, all because of Bella’s birdies.

By then, I thought Lynx had really escaped. And all I could do was to hope he will come back for food. He might not know the neighbourhood at all since he had never been out as a kitten. Only Minnie knows the neighbourhood.

So I looked again and again. Lynx couldn’t be found.

Oh no…Lynx has really escaped.

I looked again and what do you know…there he was now! Under our bed.

He was too scared to move.

So I closed the door calmly and sat there with him. I had brought some food in as well. So I offered food. Lynx came near but decided to go back in under the bed.

So I just waited until he was ready to come out to get the food.

Finally, he came out and I caught him. He’s so strong, really. It was quite a struggle getting off the floor carrying him!

So, all five are safely in the room again now.

Phew!!

This is dinner time, but you won’t see Smurfy as he’s too scared to eat again. But I finally managed to get him to eat, next story, please.
