Feeding the seniors

It’s a huge challenge, feeding the seniors. That would be Bunny & Cow (both 16 years old), Cleo (15 years old) and Indy (14 years old).

Now, Bunny has kidney issues, constipation and eye issues (he’s blind but he still has eye issues and is on daily eye antioxidants).

Cleo has kidney issues and high blood pressure (borderline and mild).

Indy has had mysterious unsolvable vet-baffling GI issues since young.

Cow…well, Cow is Cow. Let me tell you this, always give your pets BIG names. If possible, really tough names (maybe like The Hulk, Thor, Hercules, Dwayne Johnson, Hippo, Rhino, Elephant, etc.). Bunny’s original name was Yeti, actually, but we changed it to Bunny.

So, anyway, what do they eat now?

Well, firstly, my apologies to all raw-feeding friends, but with age, all four of them don’t seem to like raw food anymore. But please don’t get me wrong, Minnie-5 are on 100% raw food (Coco&Joe’s, Cubgrub’s treats, Primal Freeze Dried), Tabs and Ginger are on 95% raw food with some (totally unnecessary) cooked treats (just because the seniors get it too).

Bunny eats raw chicken breast meat and occasionally he is still willing to eat Coco&Joe’s. But his staple food is now Monge Monoprotein (Chicken and Rabbit). Thank goodness I finally found a food that he likes. He has become so choosy these days. Battling Bunny’s constipation problem has been very challenging too, but for now, I’ve found the “miracle” – Petdiatrics’ Maximus Pro GI. I just don’t know how long the miraculous effect will last. Bunny is also on Lactulose and 0.1ml Cisapride twice daily. Plus Maximus Ophtal for his eyes.

Indy has to eat Cindy’s “baby food” (which is actually Cindy’s pureed chicken in broth) every morning. He simply cannot eat any raw food in the morning or he will regurgitate it. But I mix some Monge Monoprotein and he’s fine with it. For lunch and dinner, Indy is able to eat some raw food.

Cleo can actually still eat raw food, but just because Bunny and Indy gets canned food, she wants it too. Cleo is on Renal-N and Amlopidine.

Cow is the only senior who still eats raw food as his staple, but he is now also demanding for canned food since everyone gets it.

For supper at night, all four demand for RC renal kibble but I mix it with water. It’s never served dry.

Well, as long as everyone eats happily at every meal, I’m happy too!
