Besides taking Cow Mau to the vet’s, I also brought canned food to the clinic for Creamy and Gerald.
I was hoping to see them after the neutering, but the procedures were delayed at the clinic. After Cow Mau’s consultation, it started to drizzle and I also did not want to keep Cow any longer in the carrier than what was necessary, so we came home.
The vet only started on the procedures after Cow Mau’s consultation.
Minutes ago, they just informed me that the procedures have been completed and both Creamy and Gerald were already waking up!
Neutered!!
And both are well.
Phew!!
I always get SO stressed and worried every time any cat or dog goes in for any procedure that requires anaesthesia. Something can go wrong.
Upon discussing with the vet while Cow Mau was there, she thinks that both Gerald and Creamy are not home pets. They are not well-kept, she said. So they must have grown up on the street and are probably fed at some homes. But I thought they were pets because they allowed me to carry them into the carrier this morning. A “pure” feral cat would not have allowed that (like Riley, for example).
Well, maybe they do trust humans because they are fed, but the vet says they are definitely not anybody’s pets.
Well, Riley was certainly feral. It took about 2 months from the time I started feeding Riley on the street to getting her to come into the porch, into the house and even then, it wasn’t easy to trap her. She was just too cautious and smart.
It is easier to catch males.
Because males aren’t as smart as females.
I meant cats, of course.
Or maybe, in general…mammals?
Haha…

These photos were taken today before I caught both of them.
I cannot wait to bring them back in 2 days’ time and release them, or more accurately, return them to their colony. I know Gerald occupies another road. He doesn’t come to our road unless he has a reason to and in this case, it was to mate with poor Samantha. Creamy comes from the back road but he has been coming to eat at our porch because of Samantha too. Creamy also often relaxes at the basketball court right in front of our house. He is generally a calm and docile cat.
I don’t know if Creamy has mated with Samantha, though. I hope not. But a few days ago, I saw Creamy and another decent and mild-mannered looking ginger cat (with a white patch on his chest) going up to the neighbour’s roof to where Samantha comes from these days. I have not seen this ginger cat before. Maybe all these tomcats have come from other streets to look for Samantha.
I asked the vet that if Gerald was humping on Samantha, does it mean she would get pregnant. It’s not 100% certainty but it is possible. Let’s hope she isn’t impregnated. Then, in about 4 weeks, I will try to catch her for neutering. Samantha won’t be as easy as these boys.
She’s female. She’s smart.
Yes, I meant cats, of course.
Haha…
Get well real soon, Gerald and Creamy. I’m sorry for tricking you both with food today, but it’s for a greater good. No chances of testicular or prostate cancers now. No need to keep looking for females to mate anymore. You can enjoy a celibate life now!
You both are always welcome to eat at our porch anytime.
