Riley did not urinate at all yesterday or this morning. Or this afternoon.
I was concerned and texted the vet but the vet said as long as she isn’t straining, it should be fine.
Riley did not strain and she was eating, active and very alert.
Only that she had not urinated since the procedure.
This morning, Riley figured out a way to take off the e-collar. She wedged it between the bars of the window grille and got out of it.
Pretty resourceful. Since she wasn’t biting her surgical site, we let her be.
By evening, she still had not urinated at all. I was very worried by now. In the afternoon, I had already put some soil into her litter box again. I shouldn’t have to do this, actually, since I’ve already weaned her off the soil, but maybe she had forgotten? So I placed some soil into it.
But finally, finally, finally, I found TWO urine balls in the litter box!!!
Phew! Finally! Now, this is after almost 30 hours after her procedure.

Clever girl, Riley!
Now, according to the vet assistant, Creamy did not urinate even after 48 hours while boarding at the clinic after his procedure. It was only after I had brought him back, put him into the room that he urinated and defecated on the bed (already covered with tarpaulin). The next day, I found 4 pools of urine on the tarpaulin too. There was a litter box for him but as a street cat, he probably didn’t know what that was for.
