It all started with Indra getting that red eye. Was it the flu or did she just accidentally scratch her eye somewhere while playing? We have no way of determining it, so the vet didn’t want to take any chances and started her on Doxy paste and an eyedrop.
After four days, Akira started sneezing. Nothing very serious, but we must never take chances with kittens. So the vet put her on Doxy paste and an antihistamine (for Indra too).
Then, today (after three days from the day Akira started sneezing), Kai had loose stools and started sneezing. Again, also not serious. I texted the vet and she says Kai can be on the anti-histamine too. But there is no need for the Doxy for Kai.
And because Riley always rooms in with them, Riley also started sneezing.
It looks like we have a mild flu outbreak here….
Luckily Riley is fully vaccinated so it should be mild. The vet says Riley can take a quarter tablet of Cetirizine 10mg (an anti-histamine too) once a day for eight days.
So far, Samantha seems fine.

But all three are still as active as ever, playing together.
As explained by the vet, Samantha, being a street cat, probably carries the flu virus and she passed it to the kittens. It isn’t anything external because they have been living in the two bedrooms since the time they were born.
I’ve checked with our contractor and because of the upcoming Hari Raya public holidays, our new Stargate will be delayed.
Once the Stargate is installed, my plan now is to move the Blondies down to Bunny’s Place where there is sunshine, soil and grass. But it is still just at a planning stage now. Well, they only have Bunny’s Place, Ginger’s Catio (full of wolves, I mean, the Monsters who function as a brotherhood, a pack) or the rest of the house which is upset Tabs, for sure.
And there’s Hiro too. He’s been such a darling, everybody likes him. He’s litter-box trained as well, so there’s no reason why he cannot stay here. He is friendly to everyone and Jayden has now learnt to be gentle with him, hugging him and holding him close to his face.
When Gerald visits at the window, Samantha appears to want to go back outside. This is a dilemma because of Cmpl.
Doing CNRM also entails keeping the human community “reasonably” happy. We always say that if that area is not suitable for CNRM, it just isn’t, and rehoming or adopting would have to take precedence.
And why is it not suitable?
