Plan D’s updates

Since moving the Blondies back to the room upstairs but restricting them to just one bedroom and an attached bathroom, there has only been ONE (yes, believe it or not, O-N-E) case of eliminating outside the litter box and that was Kai’s.

Kai is still having loose stools, so that would be Dr Sarah Wooten’s Cause No. 1 for FIE – a medical problem.

To recall:

The FOUR main causes of FIE:

  1. Cat has a medical problem.
  2. Cat is marking his territory, ie. urine marking.
  3. Cat is stressed.
  4. Cat doesn’t like something about the box, ie. litter box aversion (the litter, the location of the box, etc.)

Other than that, I have been cleaning urine balls and even poop from the litter boxes!!

But, it is way too soon to celebrate.

I haven’t even resorted to adding soil into the litter yet. That would be the next step to go to.

But after listening to many videos all day, it is recommended not to use liners (wee wee pads) because the claws might get stuck to the pads, so say the experts. So I have removed all the wee wee pads.

The raw cat (as Mr Galaxy calls them) would want to poop or pee, and cover it up. In the process of covering up the “evidence”, the claws might get stuck in the pads, so that’s not recommended.

But I also did another thing, I have placed litter boxes in the favourite elimination spots and also tried to prevent them from moving the litter boxes away to eliminate on the tiles as they had been doing. I can do much more, but I’ll try this first.

There is still room for them to move the boxes away, but I’ll try and see if this works. If they still move the box, I will place cardboards to restrict the movement. The corner at the door is a favourite pee spot. But after returning them to the room today, only once did Kai poop (loose stools) there. Just now, I scooped a urine ball from the red litter box! Now, that’s a first!! Yay…

Again, trying this first.

The litter packet is very heavy, so there is no way they can move this box.

At the corner of the ottoman is a favourite pee spot as well but so far, all day, there has been no pee here. Hmm…yay?

Meanwhile, Akira has a red eye on the left. The vet says it is only coincidental that it is also the left eye like Indra’s. It is a mild flu. I started her on the Neo Deca eyedrop yesterday. She is also still sneezing.

Kai is also sneezing now and probably cannot smell well enough to eat. So I have been force feeding him. He is also now on Doxy paste and the anti-histamine.

Not only are the kittens having the flu, both Ryan and Jayden are also having the flu and so am I. But cat flu and human flu do not pass from one to the other.

The hot weather isn’t helping either.
