I got up at 4.30am this morning and when I say “got up”, I mean I opened my eyes from sleep. Usually, Gerald will know instantly and he would always jump up onto the window sill and start his meowing-orchestra. Then I would have to quickly literally get up and feed Misty and him so that he would stop mewing before anyone complains.
But today, Gerald was not on the window sill and he did not mew.
Something is definitely wrong. Very wrong.
Gerald is NEVER not around. He is always around.
I decided to give it some time before going out to check.
When I finally did go out, only Misty was in the porch with Creamy.
Where is Gerald???
I fed Misty and Creamy but both were noticeably and definitely worried. They didn’t even eat much.
I got more and more worried. I went out to the street to look, but there were no signs of Gerald anywhere. I called out for him too, even though it was still very dark.
After washing Misty and Creamy’s bowls and started watering the plants, which is my usual routine.
It was only then that suddenly, I saw Gerald running back from the neighbour’s roof!
Gerald!!!!
He came down to the porch to eat. Misty came back to eat with him again.
I was SO relieved!!

Gerald is back!!!!
The best of friends.
As Gerald was eating, I glanced at the gate and I saw the culprit who spooked Gerald.
It was Bushy.
I don’t feed Bushy, so he’s not friends with me.
He is someone’s pet cat. He’s a pedigree and wears a collar and is definitely well-fed.
Bushy went out to the drain as I approached him. He runs away when we are there.
Creamy watches from the ledge on the wall.
Gerald seems very afraid of Bushy. Normally, he isn’t.
Misty looks worried too.
Later in the morning when it was bright, Gerald also disappeared for a few hours and only Misty was in the porch.
Misty was trying to “tell” me something when I went out. I’m almost sure she was worried about Gerald being not there. I did wonder if Gerald had found new friends elsewhere.
But later in the evening, Gerald was back again and was his normal noisy self!
Let’s hope everything will be back to normal now.
