Kibble talk

All our cats have kibble as a snack, except Creamy who only wants raw food. I’ve even taught Gerald to eat kibble now, which makes it more convenient in case someone else feeds him.

As you know, we have several kibble-queens in our midst, namely, the Blondies and Riley.

Now, the Blondies have only been given Cindy’s Naturelle Grainfree kibble all this while and they love it. Riley, on the other hand, demands for the RC taste because Tabs eats the RC Renal kibble and Riley loves it though it’s not suitable for her as she’s young and definitely not a CKD cat. Riley refuses to eat Cindy’s Grainfree. Really choosy.

I learnt from the importer of Cindy’s that their Grainfree range is not as popular or palatable compared with their Holistic which contains either maize or wheat. In other words, the more healthy it is, the less palatable it would be. Sounds like human food too, eh? Who doesn’t find junk food absolutely delicious?

Lately, I also bought RC Neutered Satiety for Riley upon the recommendation of our vet since Riley likes the RC taste so much. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) she did not like it at all so I had to share it out with Blondies and the Monsters to finish the 1.5kg pack.

Then, I found unbiased independent reviews of RC and Monge:

Royal Canin: https://cats.com/royal-canin-cat-food-review (a C grade)

Monge: https://cats.com/monge-cat-food-review (an A grade)

Cindy’s Recipe: (not yet) https://cats.com/community/product-recommendations/cindys-recipe-cat-food-review

Before I discovered the raw diet, our seniors were fed Monge since young. They didn’t turn out so badly, after all. But I already knew about RC’s ingredients long ago, and that is why our cats don’t eat it unless it’s a prescription diet which they have to, namely urinary, gastrointestinal or renal, to address a specific condition.

So since Riley did not like RC’s Neutered Satiety and she should not continue eating Tabs’ RC Renal, I bought Monge for her and voila….she loves it!

Monge’s kibble is not grainfree, hence, it’s more tasty. So now, I’ve got Monge for Riley. I might just try Cindy’s Naturelle Holistic (not grainfree) for Riley next round. She may just like it because RC and Monge are both not grainfree. Not grainfree = More tasty.

So before I spoil everyone else by adding Monge to their kibble, I’ve got to be strict especially with the Blondies and keep them on Cindy’s Grainfree since we are told that grainfree is better for cats. Less palatable, but better.

But I’ve also noticed one thing with Riley – she isn’t as stubborn as the Blondies. I’ve tried offering just Cindy’s Grainfree to her which she will reject until evening when she’s hungry enough, she will still eat it. The Blondies will starve to death in protest.

There’s no review on Cindy’s as it’s mostly sold in our region, not in the West. Hopefully, they will review it soon as there’s already requests for it.

So, no more adding RC Neutered Satiety or Monge for the Blondies. I should not spoil them. Goodness know how difficult it is to deal with them once they are spoiled!! “Give us what we want, or we starve to death!!”

Cindy’s Naturelle Grainfree has these three flavours for protein rotation, so at least it isn’t just one flavour. The Blondies shall stick with this brand. Previously, they ate Chicken and Salmon. Recently, I re-introduced Chicken & Turkey and they are okay with it. Last time, no, they rejected it, but it’s their bestseller.

As for the Monsters, they are not difficult like the Blondies, so they will “help” me eat up the RC Neutered Satiety. Then, they too will have Cindy’s Grainfree as their snack. And so will Juno too, in time. I will switch her from RC to Cindy’s, if possible.

At least that’s the plan…haha. Wish me luck!
