My fourth trial to get Gerald to stay indoors lasted less than 24 hours. By evening, he was too restless and demanded to be released.

So since then, I have been playing it by ear. Gerald will ask to come in when and only when he wants to come in. So I will let him. He cannot last more than 12 hours indoors. So to keep him sanity and ours, I let him out again. I know it isn’t ideal but this is the best I can do.

Meanwhile I think Creamy’s owner has gone away for the school holidays as he seems very, very hungry these days. So again, I have to play it by ear to decide how much to feed him. Luckily Creamy knows how to tell me that he is still hungry.

Creamy is still intimidating Gerald.
On the first day of the government school holidays, I saw Smokey (that’s Creamy’s friend) pacing on the ledge at Bunny’s Place (we share a wall with the back neighbour as our houses don’t have a back alley). I wish Creamy would bring Smokey to eat our our house, but he didn’t. So I hope Smokey has a source of food.
In my younger days, I might go the extra mile to look for Smokey, but now, this is the best I can do.
There was also a big white cat around our road for two days recently, but she is gone now.
And the saddest is a sick cat that we have seen twice on our road. I recognise him as one of the cats from the house down the road which has several of such cats (similar in colour as Riley). That’s the house which flies the flag of a previously-warring country and one of their militant organisations and also Bushy H’s house. I offered food to this cat on both occasions with hopes of catching him for treatment, but he was just too scared and he ran off. I can only hope that his owners would take him to see a vet. I still keep a look out for this cat every day and he’s always on my mind, but I have not seen him since. Please be well, kitty. I just feel so sad just writing about him.
