This afternoon, Butter passed out a whole “bundle” of wriggly worms, and later developed diarrhoea. I had called the vet the moment I saw those worms, but he said it’s best to wait until they are at least four weeks old before getting them dewormed.
I know different vets have their own protocols. Our other vet would deworm at 2 weeks.
That’s the dilemma – deworming can sometimes kill a young animal. NOT deworming can also kill a young animal (because of worm infestation).
When Butter passed out another small bit of wriggly worms and her diarrhoea got more watery, I discussed it with the vet again, and we decided perhaps we should get Butter dewormed (using a reduced dosage) since the diarrhoea already indicates infection.
So, off we went, the PBJ gang and me to the vet’s.
