As time goes by

It’s been 10 days since Vixey passed on.  Life in my house has more or less returned to normal, but Vixey’s ashes are still right here with me, beside her favourite router.  Little flowers decorate the little basket where her ashes lie.  Vixey had always had flowers in all her baskets.  If not flowers, then pretty bows and ribbons.

Vixey’s baskets (flashback)

After Vixey passed away, Indy got a little cranky for a few days, and once, he ended up in my neighbour’s house, huddled in a corner, frightened to bits.  I don’t know why he went over to their house.  Could he have lost his senses for that day?  I had to go over to bring him back and he was terrified.

Suki sometimes jump up to the router and sniff at the flowers.  I’m sure she misses Vixey too.

But Indy and Suki are best of friends, and good old Indy watches over Suki as a big brother would.  It is very touching looking at the two of them being together.

Indy never leaves Suki out of his sight, especially when Suki gets time out in the garden.

Watching over you, little one.

Best of friends
As my daughter was saying the other day, Indy has lost two bestfriends already.  Kimba passed away suddenly after living with us for hardly three months.  And now, Vixey is gone.  We really feel for Indy.  It was quite obvious he missed Vixey very much the first few days after Vixey left us.

As I write this now, I am reminded of the oldie, “As Time Goes By”.  Let me share with you the beginning of the song…

This day and age we’re living in

Gives cause for apprehension

With speed and new invention

And things like fourth dimension.

Yet we get a trifle weary

With Mr. Einstein’s theory.

So we must get down to earth at times

Relax relieve the tension

And no matter what the progress

Or what may yet be proved

The simple facts of life are such

They cannot be removed.]

You must remember this

A kiss is just a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh.

The fundamental things apply

As time goes by.

Indeed, what really matters in life is to love and care for others as much as we can.  These are the “fundamental things” that apply, as time goes by…

I seem to be saying this all the time, so please forgive me for repeating, we will never know when we are taken away, so while we are still here, make every moment count.

Kimba did.  Vixey did.  And now that they are gone, they leave behind happy memories that still touch us deeply.  They are indeed…pawprints on our hearts.

    Kahyein,

Yes, I have a firm and deep belief that Vixey will come galloping across the meadows of gold in full joy and happiness to meet you at Heaven's gate, purring away like a full engine …. accompanied by sweet little Kimba ….

Meanwhile, they will be watching over you from above as your guardian angels.

  2. Rainbow Bridge certainly sounds a much better place than this Earth. I don't mind going there, really. All our departed pets will be in their healthiest and heavenly state, and they would be so happy. I can imagine Vixey there, playing hide and seek amongst the flowers. My pretty and sweet little Piggy-Vix.
