When I first started AnimalCare in 2009, most of our funds and support came from my friends in various Buddhist centres in the Klang Valley and these friends have continued supporting our work until today. One of the centres which have given AnimalCare a lot of support through the years is the Mudita Buddhist Society in Klang.
“Mudita” means “altruistic joy”, rejoicing in the success of others, rejoicing when one does good for the benefit of others. How apt!

Good boy Vincent! I always get a feeling that Vincent loves you very much Kah Yein, and he would love to be able to follow you everywhere you go – to your lectures and to all your grocery trips.
I WISH I could take one of the cats with me everywhere! Hmm…Vincent?
Why not try him out as ambassador cat? Try a small gathering of people in a new environment. Make sure he wears a harness with a tag with your contact etched on it in case of emergency (he is not an expert harness escapee, is he?). If you go to give a talk about CNRM, it will make a big difference if you can bring a cat along 😀
Good idea – maybe I can try by taking him to the playground. Or maybe Heidi is more well suited for this post. She doesn’t seem to be afraid of anything or anyone except thunder. BUT…Heidi swipes people if they annoy her. And as with all cats, you’ll never know what annoys them!
I would not start with the playground. If he freaks or something, he might run and hide somewhere hard to find. A small gathering of friends in a closed room would be a better place to start. Tell him that his job is to be your bodyguard and let him stay close to you at all times. Make sure there is a signal or sound that he knows you are calling him that he responds to most of the time (a container of treats that you shake?). The harness with tag is his bodyguard uniform (bullet-proof too, heheh) I think Vincent would love the attention and the special place as your personal bodyguard. He is already guarding your front gate!!!
Heidi is not the kind of cat that makes the effort to please people – too iron-willed and steely-eyed. She has a “my way is the highway attitude.” But Vincent has got a softer protective side to him that might make him a good ambassador cat for CNRM. Showing is always more effective than talking.
Looks like the tabbies are really good at hosting. Previously it was Tabitha Jane, now Vincent. Perhaps hospitality is a natural trait of the tabbies… 😉
Yes, but this time, Tabs was so scared of the crowd, she hid behind the door! Vincent is simply a natural at hosting. Heidi hangs out with the grass-cutters…also a natural!
