10am – all quiet

At 6.30am, I went out to look for Daffi again and met Francis. He hadn’t seen her at all.

Just then, a face popped out from the roof.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t Daffi.

It was G-Cuz.

He was the one eating the food then.

Once some other cat has invaded the place, I know for certain, Daffi will not come back to it. That’s her mega Calico-pride.

I climbed up to the roof again this morning to look. No sign of Daffi. I cleaned up that spot on the roof and left a fresh bowl of water there. No food. G-Cuz would only eat it up and it would attract more neighbourhood cats to that spot.

I had already feared the worst on Saturday morning when I discovered her gone. Some people like to think that cats go away to “cross over” when it is time to go. I think it’s more of them feeling weak and defenseless, so cats, being the proud creatures that they are, do not ask for help, they would go away and hide and be on their own to let Nature take its course. So yes, they go away. I think it’s because they feel weak and defenseless.

Anyway, how would we know, right?

Then, by evening, she made herself visible to me. Many times too. The last was yesterday, at about 10am (to be exact, it was 9.30am – I checked the text messages I sent to the psychic). I had climbed up the ladder, and there she was – sitting on the roof. She looked at me for what seemed a fairly “long” time (it could have been just a few seconds, but it seemed long). Then, she mewed at me. I had no camera and could not take her photo. I quickly got down the ladder. I thought she was ready to come back. I wanted to get some fresh food for her, but by the time I got up again, she was gone.

That was the last I saw Daffodil.

Was that goodbye, Daffi?

I have to look after Ginger now and make sure he will be okay.

Even last night’s homecooked failed to attract Daffodil back.

Our most empathetic cat, Cow.

I am devastated and crying my heart out. Cow is on my lap.

Hugs. There is little you could do if Daffi does not want to be found and brought back. Cats are masters of hiding and escaping. Best way to get a cat’s attention is to ignore her. When you see her, turn your buttock at her and walk away too. She has shown hers, now you show yours. All this calling for her and looking for her could only further continue her feeling of being stressed out and deter her decision to go back. Let her be – leave some food and water out – but just ignore her totally. Let her want your attention again and let her miss the nice clean sheets. Then when she is ready, she will be at your front door wanting to come in. Play the calico game!

Hugs. Be strong. Sometimes our fur kids dont want us to witness them leaving, preferring to leave you with happy memories. But it could be she just wants to go round to see places she has been. Be strong and patient.

I feel so sad reading your post and knowing you are feeling so down. I wish I could help. HUGS Sis.

I think you should try Miss Chen’s advice, seems feasible.
