The faces of hope, and forlorn
This morning, we will be making a trip up to Bentong. I woke up at 3.30am this morning, and couldn’t go back to sleep. While I know worrying is a waste of time, at the back of my mind, I have been worrying about some of the dogs we brought to Bentong on 15th Dec. …

All set for tomorrow’s trip to LLLP
It’s almost midnight now, and I’ve just packed everything (that I can think of) into my car, all set for tomorrow’s trip to LLLP. Our purpose of going up tomorrow is to start with the spaying of the 15 female dogs. Dr Khor has very kindly consented to come up to do it, closing his…

Thank you for your donations
Here’s the latest news, folks. SPCA can only start their neutering campaign in January, so we are proceeding with our own vet in December itself. We need funds for this purpose. The reason I want to do it as soon as possible is three-pronged.1. We want a vet to check them as soon as possible.2. …

Thank you for your good wishes and help
I’d like to thank all well-wishers for their support and kind words. It helps to know that there are all of you out there rooting for us, and doing your best to help us even though you could not be physically present to help us with the rescue work. To Alicia Horsley, thank you for giving…

One rescued puppy has passed away
http://animalcare.my/2009/12/12-puppies-rescued-from-klang-dog-pound.html If you remember, we rescued 12 puppies from the Klang Dog Pound on 14th December, and they were handed over to MDDB for treatment and fostering. Eight of these puppies were tested positive for distemper/parvo/corona and MBBD appealed for volunteers to help foster them. They had to be separated from healthy dogs. Our volunteer,…

Offer to help the 36 dogs
This evening, SPCA’s chairperson, Ms Christine Chin, sent me two messages to share our joy in having rescued these 36 dogs. I thanked her most kindly. I had also been advised by friends that SPCA, through MissionHelp, might be able to spay-neuter for free under their existing campaign, so I enquired if this was possible.…

“Cinderella” and 10 more rescued today (Klang Dog Pound)
Remember her? She is the one with the facial wound, and she wanted very much to go with us yesterday, but our vet reminded us that we had no vet in Bentong to treat her, and her wounds might go from bad to worse. Also, LLLP had set the condition that we could only bring…

The plight of the Klang dogs at the pound
First thing this morning, I received two missed calls from MPK – I had to go down to pay the reclaimation fees for the 36 dogs we rescued yesterday. I know, and I remember, but I was just still quite dead tired from yesterday’s rescue and me getting lost in Bangsar (more because of the latter, actually!). So, off…

36 innocent lives rescued today (Klang Dog Pound)
I started the day by submitting our letter of appeal for the waiver of the reclaimation fee to MPK. I managed to see the officer concerned at about 8.20am. He said he could not waive the fee, so I still had to pay, though, a reduced sum. And that was that. So, despite the help…

The first monetary contribution
While we were purchasing cages at the petfood shop yesterday, an elderly gentleman overheard our discussions, and he wanted to chip in to help out in today’s rescue operation. He did not want his name to be published anywhere, and did not reveal his name to us, so we will call him Uncle Heaven. All…

D-Day today (Klang Dog Pound Rescue)
It is now 5.42am. Today is going to be a very challenging day. It was more than 3 years ago that I did a similar rescue operation from the Puchong Dog Pound where we took out 45 dogs from Puchong to their new shelter in Desa Petaling (the Ti-Ratana Community Centre). We were also working…

Asmara Dana – The Young and the Thoughtful
We would like to record our thanks to INCOVAR (a youth group of undergraduates and graduates) for helping us sell our tshirts to raise funds for an orphanage and old folks home. Also, for helping to publicise our mission to the general public during their recent camp. The INCOVARians and me in Ketam Island, last…

We are rescuing 40 adult dogs tomorrow (Klang Dog Pound)
The email that had been circulating reported that there were 40 dogs at the Klang Dog Pound so I had been negotiating for 40 places all week. Now, it turned out that there are close to 100 dogs at the pound. I cannot find places for 100 dogs. Can you help, please? Ask your friends…

12 puppies rescued from Klang Dog Pound today
Ever since the Klang Dog Pound issue was made public, we had been working very hard behind the scenes to help the dogs. We heard two big organisations were going to do something, so we were hoping they would. Being just a small group and not a shelter, our resources are extremely limited. But still,…
