Kampung Chamang – more dogs needing help

We met Meiji at the marketplace in Bentong town and she took us further up to Kampung Chamang, where a Thai Chinese lady is fostering and looking after many dogs at the cemetery.  Our Raub spay-neuter would be mostly for these dogs, as well as some more dogs rescued by Meiji.

This is the shed at the cemetery where the Thai lady is looking after many abandoned dogs and puppies.  She has been giving the female dogs birth-control injections but she knows there is danger of the dogs developing cancer later on, so she needs all the dogs spayed-neutered very badly.  She says many puppies are dumped at the cemetery by people, and she would rescue them and give them shelter at this shed.

Here are some of the puppies greeting me.  They all look very healthy.  Guess what they are fed?  Rice with chicken!  Now, that’s more proper, yah?
All these puppies have been dumped at the cemetery.  None are from her own females because her females are on birth-control.
This is the Thai lady, her name is Kwai Chee (which, incidentally, is my mother’s name, too!).  Kwai Chee is very caring. She was worried that she would be away in Thailand one week after the spay-neuter campaign. However, we assured her one week ought to be enough for the dogs to recover, and Meiji has promised to look in on the dogs while she is away.
We discussed what must be done one day prior to the spay-neuter campaign and just how many dogs need to be spayed-neutered.  Kwai Chee sounds very knowledgeable and responsible.
It turned out there are only 3 males but 15 females.
I called the good samaritan who is arranging the vets for me, and asked him if it would be possible to perform this number of surgeries in two days since we have two vets.  I also described the shed to him, and asked him what is needed.
Meiji would need to supply two tables for the surgeries.  We have already given her 8 cages, and these will be used to confine the dogs before and after surgery.  I will be buying e-collars for every dog.

Cute, yah?
A female who looks very healthy.
More dogs…
This is another lady who helps out.  Her husband rents a space in the cemetery grounds to park his tractors.
Her daughter helps out too.
Cute one!
Can we have a group photo?
Hold on, puppies, hold on…
These puppies will not be spayed-neutered this round.  Perhaps in a few months’ time.  But we will get them vaccinated.
Ainey says this one is SO incredibly cute, with his short legs.
Yes, isn’t he?
We left Kampung Chamang for KL while Meiji headed back to Raub.
I got pretty sick while driving home so when I got back, I went straight to sleep.  I have been coughing ever since 20th Dec (the Klang Dog Pound rescue) and the cough has not properly healed.
I woke up with high fever and very severe cough.  Right now, I’m wrapped up in three layers and I want to go to bed.  I feel like wearing a down jacket!
Tomorrow is a working day.  I need to recover.
No more postings for tonight.
Goodnight.
