Bobtail and Teddybear’s updates

I went back again this evening to nurse Bobtail and Teddybear.  Both are on drips now.

Side by side, comrades-in-arms.
Bobtail was a wee bit more active this evening.
He could walk from the floor back into the cage, lifting his legs up to step into the cage.
He even walked to his bowl to drink water by himself.  And he drank LOTS.  I was worried about kidney problems, and I asked the vet.  He said drinking a lot could mean Bobtail is very severely dehydrated (which he is) or food poisoning may also cause kidney problems.
This morning, I noticed Bobtail passed lots of liquid stools and it was undigested AD.  So I suggested to the vet that we switch to ID and he agreed.  On ID, both seemed to be doing better.  But Bobtail’s stools are still watery.  It needs to solidify.
I remember that some vets suggest total gut-rest (fasting) when a pet has diarrhoea, but the vet said that for Bobtail and Teddybear, nutrition is of paramount importance, so we need to feed them very regularly.  Seeing how badly emaciated they are, they need nutrition very, very badly.  Hence, no gut-rest at all.
I fed both of them very small amounts of ID, twice, this evening.  And Bobtail did not pass the watery stools anymore.
I hope we’re getting it right, and the medications are beginning to work now.
Teddybear still looked quite down.
He just sits and looks very bored and dull.
But compared to yesterday, there is improvement today, and I thank heavens we discovered this early enough.  I have been sending text messages to the fosterer very frequently asking how Bobtail and Teddybear were doing, and he always replied that they were doing well.
I hope I will be able to bring them back home soon and nurse them back to health again.  And also, reunite them with their siblings, Xiao Li and Bandit.
Please send positive healing energy to Bobtail and Teddybear.
At least I can sleep tonight…
Tomorrow will be another day.
