  • Updates on the Rawang dogs (help needed today)

Ref: http://animalcare.my/2011/05/requesting-help-to-catch-some-dogs.html Azimah, on her own initiative, has been working very hard to round up a pack of dogs in Rawang as the local council has been, unfortunately, very “active” in capturing (and hence, euthanising) stray dogs in that area. We publicised Azimah’s appeal for help in catching the dogs sometime ago, but so far,…

  • How are things over at Imm’s Shelter?

Updates from Judy: Imm still looks tired. I can empathise her situation. I’ve noticed myself that I can’t get much done in a day as I used to since turning 60. I’m 62 this year and Imm’s 64! Imm really doesn’t have much ‘free’ time in a day. She’s up at 7am each morning to…

  • Fosterer/Adopter needed urgently

Su Ann is appealing for fosterers/adopters urgently for these kittens and their mum as her parents would not allow her to keep them in the house anymore. Su Ann has gone a long way to rescue these kittens and their mum has been spayed.  It is really a pity if the family cannot find a safe and…

  • Poor Lilac has complications

The vet just called moments ago.  Complications has developed in Lilac’s wounds.  Part of the wound has now turned gangrenous.  A more serious concern is that there is a swelling inside and an X-Ray taken today showed the presence of urine.  This suggests that there could be some leakage from the urethra.  The vet will…

  • Amber’s 2nd TVT jab

Amber was given her 2nd TVT jab today.  According to the vet, the bleeding has stopped and there is visible shrinkage of the tumour.  This is indeed good news.  Amber is, as usual, as happy as a lark and is also eating well.

  • Baby Coco adopted; what a lovely story

This is one of Julie Pek’s lovely success stories…. Julie writes: It has been a good story for Babycoco. As put up on AnimalCare a month ago, Babycoco was a rescued pup and I had to look for an adopter whilst the little pup was being fostered by the rescuer. Last week, out of desperation…

  • Mum-cat and kittens for adoption, from Su Ann

Su Ann wrote to me sometime last year.  Apparently, a kitten was stuck inside a very deep drain and the mum-cat was trying to get her out.  One of our volunteers went to help, but there was no way a human could enter that drain.  Finally, the kitten got out herself and all was well.Su…

  • Horsey, vaccinated

Lydia brought Horsey for her first vaccination yesterday.  Horsey has recovered so well (Lydia has done such a remarkable job), our vet could barely recognise her!  Horsey had also self-removed her stitches by now, so the vet did not have to do much in that department! Lydia will continue to foster Horsey for a few…

For the record, AnimalCare was founded during Wesak…

  • Close encounters of the sweetest kind

Yesterday was our Pre-Wesak tshirt sale in the Bandar Utama Buddhist Society.  Even before my talk started, a little girl and her mom came up to me and introduced themselves.  According to mom, Yi Lin (the little girl) loves reading my books and because of what she has read, they have now adopted a stray…

  • Injured kitten, found in the middle of the road, sent for treatment

I received a call from Jason today.  Apparently, he had just rescued a little kitten from the middle of the road this morning.  He said the kitten looks injured and Jason wanted to know whether he should send the kitten to a vet or to the shelter. To the vet, I said.  And I offered…
