We were really worried about Mr Pure White yesterday because he did not take the operation well (was slow in waking up) and thus, had to be put on drips and he spent the night at the clinic.
Today, he was alright and was in fact, eating very well, too.

I have released Mr White after giving him breakfast and he walked off without looking back. I later found him at his favourite siesta spot and as expected, he ran off when I approached. 🙂

Then, I went to pick Mr Pure White from Healing Rooms and he was munching happily on the biscuits (his second helping!). I asked the vet to help frontline him (I brought my bottle) so the fleas will stay off for at least a month and hopefully it will help him. He sang all the way back from the vet and when I opened the carrier at the spot where I found him, he sang a bit more while looking around and after a few minutes, stepped out and off he went!
So now I’m just left with the elusive Black male (I’m going to ask my opposite neighbour to help capture him as well) so I’m hopeful we’ll have him in custody by sunday night…..fingers crossed!
In view of this experience with Mr Pure White, we would recommend that rescuers do not spay-neuter elderly cats. However, for females, it may still be necessary as they will continue to reproduce and pregnancy at a later age can lead to many complications including obstructed labour and pyometra, which is very life-threatening. For such elderly females, please seek the advice of the vet. In all cases, let safety and wellbeing preceed the need to get the cat spayed.
