An S.O.S. – bluepoint kitty-siblings just rescued

Winnie Low texted me to say she had just found a litter of two kittens. I asked how big they are and if their eyes were already opened, and she said the eyes are opened but the two kittens are of different sizes….(isn’t that strange?).

Anyway, I gave her instructions on what to do:

1. Buy kitten milk to feed them. Small amounts at regular intervals, 1-2 hourlyy. Do NOT overfeed.
2. Keep them warm with hot water bottles and towels.
3. Massage tummy and privates to make them pee and poo.

All seems well for now, and Winnie sent these photos:

Hey, it looks like siblings from different batches, doesn’t it?
Isn’t that just so cute?

 This is the little one.

Bluepoints…!!

Winnie said the mum-cat actually came back later to look at them, and Winnie left them outside the back gate so that the mum-cat could have access to them.

I hope both will be well. I’ve advised Winnie to bring them into the house for tonight and feed them at regular intervals.

Winnie (012-2927743) is requesting for fosterers or adopters. Please help.

Winnie, try to catch/trap the mother cat and do not allow her open access to the kittens because she will carry them off and often, the young kittens die easily outside because of cold and exposure and you will not know how to find them to re-rescue them. Nursing kittens must be nursed by their mom in a cage to ensure their safety and constant access to mum's milk.

Put the kittens in the farthest corner of a clean cage and open the door. Wait closeby patiently and tempt the mother cat with some wet food put in the innermost corner of the cage.

If the mother cat is the scary type, cover the front and sides of the cage to block her view of you as you approach slowly and calmly to close the door of the cage. Securethe lower corner of the cage door with a nylon string as normally this is where the door gives way for her to push out using her head. Do not use a string to pull the door shut because a scary cat can sense the vibration and dash out.

You must practise and calm yourself down to excute it successfully on your fist attempt because the animals are very smart. They only need ONE lesson and they "sekolah" oredi, and it will be near impossible to get a second chance!

Plan carefully where to position the cage with kittens for trapping. It must have a place for you to crouch safely near the door.

One kitten is smaller because she has poor access to mother's milk. Putting in a cage with mother will ensure mother is always there for milk.

  3. I picked up 2 kittens from our back longkang a few years ago. The brother's should be from the same litter, but 1 was tiny and the other was normal sized.

Fast forward to the present day, the tiny one has become FatCat and the other, SkinnyCat. So yeah :p

I wish I could take these 2 in, but my parents would have a fit 🙁
