Today, I had many parcels of books and tshirts to post, but there was an incredibly long queue at the post office. Why, I don’t know…
Both post offices in Subang Jaya have completely run out of Poslaju plastic bags, so I have to wrap all the parcels now. That big parcel of books is my latest books, for the layout artist. He lives in Kelana Jaya, but with my absolutely hopeless sense of direction, I figured it would probably be cheaper for me to just post the books to him than waste petrol going round and round AND eventually not being able to find the place!
Oh no….forty numbers ahead of me….
I almost fell asleep waiting…
Finally, after more than an hour, it was my turn.
Phew…
So, this is part of AnimalCare work as well…being a permanent feature at the post office several times a week! But it’s a good sign….because it means our tshirts and books are reaching out and we have your support! So, thank you!

KY, can I suggest a new japanese courier company called ta-q-bin? They r having promotion RM3 per document until dec 2011, and offered me a quotation valid for the nxt 2 yrs that is very good pricing (much lower than competitors).
It's a toll-free number, they pick-up for free, 365 days work, 8am-9pm delivery. Really worth a try, then you wouldn't need to queue anymore! Will email you the details in a while ya.
Hi Kah Yein,
Waiting at the Post Office is just sooo tedious! My office has found Mail Boxes Etc to be extremely convenient. Now whenever we have anything to send, we let them do all the work. They can even source for the best comparable rates (Poslaju included). If our office have a big bunch of stuff to send, we'll just leave them with the boys in the shop with instructions, and then pick-up the invoice from them later or the next day. No waiting needed! The boys in the shop near our office have become one of our favourite people! There is one outlet in Taipan according to their website here: http://www.mbe.com.my/cl_sg.html#
Have you considered privatising your tshirt sales? Seriously, you cannot be doing everything yourself – purchasing, stock-keeping, sales, distribution, mailing, money collection, etc, all by yourself.
It looks like all your committee members are sleeping and you are the only person doing anything most of the time. In a private organisation, these members would have been sacked and thrown into the Klang River.
I can feel the amount of work you are undertaking for the sake of the animals. But dont you think you are doing far too much alone?
Alternatively, you can also consider setting a policy of only posting x day every week, or x & y day every week, something like that, depending on your time. My work involves a lot of online transactions and postings, locally and overseas, and it's common to have policy like this.
I've tried PosLaju and other courier services for local delivery. Unfortunately I still prefer PosLaju because it's a bit troublesome having to wait for the pick up guy from the courier company without being able to leave the workplace or so. And sometimes – actually most of the time, they just come as they wish. I can't stay at the office all hours as I constantly have appointments outside.
But of course, waiting at the post office is also a very time consuming 'task'. Luckily most of the time I can go straight to the stamp counter (as often that's all I need), which normally doesn't require taking numbers. Some post office might be different though.
