A friend gave me a packet of cat litter to try the other day…
It is a Japanese brand and everything was in Japanese so I didn’t know what it contained.
It’s supposed to clump very well. Unfortunately, it has very, very strong perfume.
And only Tabs used it. But the clumping is fantastic, even better than Ever Clean.
However, I don’t want to use perfumed litter and I do wonder what chemical is used for the excellent clumping.
Oh, oh…you’re not going to destroy this packet of paper litter, are you?
Tabs seems to have this thing against pictures of other cats….
After having tried the clay litter for about two weeks, I think all my cats and I prefer to revert to Ever Clean.
A reader from our FB page also alerted me to this: http://nydogsworld.com/
So, it’s back to Ever Clean.
But another reader from our FB told me about Avid Eco, and I called the company to enquire. Here’s their website: http://avideco.com.my/magic_litter.html. It works this way: You leave the litter there for 1-2 weeks; there is no need to scoop anything up as it contains probiotics to convert the urine into “something not unpleasant”. You only scoop up the poo.
Hmm…but I like to scoop the clumped litter, and I prefer to scoop and clean the toilets a few times a day. Can’t imagine having urine there for a week!
But it says it’s biodegradable and environs-friendly, and salesperson insisted on giving me a pack to try.
Here it is.
It’s made of wood flakes and there’s probiotics added to it.
Again, our girl is the “test-pilot” of every new litter.
But she quickly went back to the Ever Clean litter box and sat. Was she making a statement? I don’t know.
So far, only Tabs and Bunny has used the woodflake litter.
Tiger is using the garden as his toilet
By the way, our pearl grass is growing!
But it’s got about 6 toilet spots already. Never mind, it’s back to nature.
Cow covers the urine for Tiger, isn’t that nice?
Cow still sprays, on the plants and on my furniture…sigh.
Managing the cats takes up all day, sometimes.
But it sure is better than managing people!
Updates at 10.33pm – Just now in the evening when Bunny used the Magic Litter, I checked and the base of the litter box was wet (with urine), but now, as I was cleaning the other Ever Clean boxes, I checked the Magic Litter box and it’s completely dry. There was absolutely no smell either. I might just give this a try and see how it works. The plus point is that it’s very light to carry (Ever Clean weighs a ton!!) and of course, it is purported to be environmentally friendly since it consists of wood flakes. I’ve also mixed some with one of the Ever Clean boxes. Pole went into it and stepped out when it felt unfamiliar to the touch.

It is natural that cats like to pee on grass. My 2 boys have their wood shaving litter pans at home, and they do their business there without any issue, but whenever they go out for their evening walks, they will definitely pee on the grass. Am glad i could provide that natural-ness for them daily.
Hi Dr Chan
I just switched to Cat’s Best OkoPlus litter today, a 10Litre bag costing RM38/=

Thanks, a friend is ordering a pack of OKO Plus for me, too. This Magic Litter (Avid Eco) is RM15.90 per pack, if order online. OKO Plus clumps, I think?
Dr Chan
Where to buy Magic Litter? I would like to give it a try when I finished using OkoPlus.
Cheers

You can order online: http://www.avideco.com.my/magic_litter.html. But it’s non-clumping and you’re supposed to leave it there for 1-2 weeks, urine and all. Still, everything IS dry. The probiotics ferment the urine. Quite amazing.
I was told that it clump very well & its biodegradable plus eco thingy.
Yes, I heard it’s very, very good – one of the best cat litters in town. Only my petstore doesn’t sell it, so I’m trying other brands until my friend helps me get a pack.
I can get it for you if you are interested to try.
Thanks very much, but friend already ordered for me. Thanks! BTW, where did you get it from?
I bought it from a Pet shop in Ara Damansara.

Online purchase?
I bought it from the shop. Actually I was looking for BreederCelect litter but the shop dont carry that brand so I was introduced to OkoPlus.
Note: My Vet inform me not to use sand litter as I have just spay & neuter Twinkle & Tenten. She said sand litter contain more dust and it would stick to surgery area.
Yes, good advice from your vet. Was told OKOPlus is one of the best on the market.
Looks like we’re all trying to find the most suitable litter. I’ve tried 4 brands on my rabbit and still looking. So far I find back-2-nature (small animal ver. of breeder’s celect) the best.
I’m might try out Magic Litter since they have for rabbits as well.
