What is a purrfect fence?

This is for the benefit of new readers to this blog.

A video of how to install it : http://www.purrfectfence.com/kit_instructions.asp

We had ours made when we moved in about a year ago:

Unfortunately, the contractor had some problems with his maths and got the angle wrong, but still, it has worked…so far.

The netting undergoes wear and tear due to the elements of the environment and this is made worse by Mr G and friends (the neighbour’s cats) who try very hard to come INTO our cat enclosure! Mr G has since damaged three parts of the netting which we have replaced with tougher netting.

Two days ago, there was a between-the-net battle between Bunny and Ginger as Ginger tried to get into our cat enclosure from the top. Bunny (I don’t know how!) had climbed up the ledge in the pantry and was snarling at Ginger (am not exaggerating, you can ask Connie as she witnessed it all). A Feline War was about to break out, but thanks to the water-gun, we water-shot Ginger away.

Bunny didn’t know how to get down after that!!

I climbed up and got him down (yes, lugged all 6.85kg of the Bunnyphant) and then he slept for many hours after that….LOL!

However, the purrfect fence, I was told, is not 100% cat-proof. A friend’s cat scaled out of such a fence and escaped from her grandmother’s house compound! TWICE.

Nothing is perfect or purrfect…when it involves these highly intelligent creatures from the feline world!

Our disclaimer holds.

    Hi Kah Yein
If you need to replace the netting with more durable and hardy fishing net material, call Victory Electric Co, a wholesale electrical goods shop at 24, Jalan Yew, Pudu, KL (next to Pudu wet market), tel 9221 9300. They use it to cover their goods on the five-foot way and may have excess stock. Selling price was RM35.00/meter width for a length of 50 feet (fixed). The height of your fence requires 2 meters. For the length, you need to take a measurement of the L-shaped fence.

Thanks very much, Agnes. Will do that.

  2. Looking at your wall, why not perform an experiment on tapering off the top of the wall with a long /\ form or ∩ form. If the cats can’t balance themselves at the tip of the object, they are not likely to climb on it… maybe I am wrong… worth trying.

Thanks for your suggestion. Pole made a grand escape by scaling this wall when we first moved in so I’ll stick with this for awhile! At least it’s Pole-proof so far. Can’t take another heart attack at this age! By the way, if you’ve seen some previous photos, even Bunny (the 6.85kg heavyweight) can balance himself on the clothes line!

I asked Tabs on how did Bunny manage to climb the wall, Tabs just glared at me with her vampires eyes. Yikes!
