Till we meet again, Rosie

Last night, my husband and I slept in the living room. I slept on the sofa, and in the middle of the night, I felt footsteps beside my head. It was exactly the way Rosie would step when she came to sleep in between our pillows. I opened my eyes and there was no one. I thought it was Heidi but it wasn’t.

I stayed up till very late last night. Ginger and Heidi kept me company.

Sweet Ginger.

And sweet Heidi.

I think Daffodil knows what is happening. She went a little cranky last night, darting to and fro. I suppose they have their way of handling grief.

I let Mr Zurik in this morning to say goodbye.

Vincent cried out loud, as though asking me what had happened.

He is always on duty at the porch, so perhaps he didn’t know Rosie had been sick. Vincent wasn’t much affected by the netted windows. But Vincent has a very kind heart so I think he was shocked, and he was clearly sad.

Daffodil was nearby.

We informed Francis and Mukda too and they dropped in to pay their last respects. Francis feeds the cats at the playground and he was the one who got Rosie and Ginger neutered under AnimalCare Aid before we moved to this neighbourhood. Then, it was later that we managed to catch Daffodil and got her neutered.

Rosie was the first cat to come to our house. She followed my husband back from the playground. Then, she brought Ginger to our gate for food. One night, Ginger came and sat in our cage at the patio  – He needed help after his paw was bitten very badly by Mr Quack. Then, I had to nurse Ginger in the cage for two weeks, and that’s when Daffodil plucked up courage and came to the patio to visit Ginger every day. That’s how the Bird Family came to stay. It was after that that Bosco, Raven, Vincent, Willy, Timmy, Heidi and Mr Zurik came.

I have to keep telling myself that Rosie is already reborn in a better place now and there is no pain discomfort, pain and suffering from her illness anymore.  I think all animals go to a heavenly realm after their tour on earth because unlike humans, all animals have pure hearts.

Mr Wong from Pet Memorial arrived at about 9.45am.

He is a very compassionate man.

You are already in a better place, Rosie.

We will meet again.

There is dry ice and the cremation is done at night.

Rosie fought so bravely throughout her illness. Once treatment started, she responded well and became perky, happy and her appetite improved tremendously. But the liver cells were dying and nothing could be done about that. During her final hours, Rosie remained courageous, strong, calm and peaceful.

In loving memory of Rosie, our cats will make a contribution to help street animals achieve better well-being.

We thank you, our dear friends, for the many messages of condolences and solace. I am very comforted by your very kind moral support.

Work has to go on at AnimalCare and I will spend today sewing bags while thinking fondly of Rosie and dedicating all merits to her.

Rosie

Brave and courageous Rosie Posie!

Rosie is in a better place Dr.Chan. I perfectly understand how you feel. My cat Vanilla died of pancreatic cancer 2 years ago and I still miss her dearly. No other cat can replace her. Vanilla was suffering daily though her appetite was extremely good…yet the cancer cells were eating away her body. Eventually I had to talk to her…ask her if she was suffering too much…to go if she needs to…not to hold on because of me. Strangely after I spoke to her that night…she was perky n seemed ready to fight the cancer with me…yet the next morning she died. Then I realised…she was only waiting for me to be ready to let her go….all their sacrifices is for us….they live for us alone….and they are willing to withstand suffering n pain until we are ready to let go…
So we must be strong…u can get an animal communicator in a month’s time to talk to her and to find out how she is doing.

The cat family will grief briefly and everything will be back to normal. I think her mom has not forgotten rosie…just that they have said their goodbyes long time ago and has moved on as they knew the conclusion….

Stay strong n communicate with Rosie soon!
