Cow Mau’s bacteria test results
The vet texted to let me know Cow Mau’s eye bacteria test results. He has two types of bacteria, ie. staphylococcus spp (gram-positive) and proteus spp (gram-negative). So, the medication given last week was spot-on as Doxycycline will take care of the gram-positive bacteria while the Gentamycin eye ointment will take care of the gram-negative…

Thank you very much (July 2023 donors)
It’s been a rather uneventful month, which is good! No news is good news. We are glad that Survivor Shelter is doing well now, with good business going for Ms Ong at her burger stall. Ms Ong has also purchased canned food and kibble from us with the donations she received from well-wishers. This month’s…

The rescue of Whiskers (a story from Imm’s Shelter)
A few days ago, Judy shared these photos with me. A little kitten (now named Whiskers) was sighted inside a big drain. Torrential rains are in season nowadays and Judy was very worried that the heavy rains will wash Whiskers away. According to Judy, it wasn’t exactly a very deep drain, but at her age…

How is Cow Mau now (4 days after treatment began)?
I’m happy to share that Cow Mau is definitely much better now. His eyes cleared up within 24 hours after being on the treatment protocol (Gentamycin eye ointment and Doxy). The pawing is still there but definitely getting much less every day. This morning, he was able to eat Coco&Joe’s despite its stick texture. There…

The day Lynx skipped breakfast (oh no!!!)
This happened a few days ago. It was coincidentally one day after the vaccination but I’m sure it was unrelated. I was serving breakfast at Ginger’s Catio when one bowl was uneaten. With the Monsters and sometimes it is still dark, it take more than a second to figure out who’s not eating (they do…

Playtime at the catio
Ryan, armed with Marshall, his favourite Paw Patrol pup and Jayden, armed with a magnifying glass, the two boys went out to Ginger’s Catio to play today! Hello, Ginger. Smell my finger.

Meatless Friday!
There is no need to wait for Mondays to go meatless! Fridays are good too. This is my brunch for today. That’s capsicum, tomato, lettuce, to be made into an omelette. Boiled green peas and broccoli. Here’s my vegetable omelette with greens! Bon appetit! Selamat menjamu selera! I don’t use salt or seasoning because I…

How is Cow Mau now?
I’m so glad I asked the vet to check on Cow Mau during the house call for the Monsters two days ago. Previously I was under the impression that Cow Mau’s tearing (brown discharge from the eyes) was due to blocked sinuses and the only way to clear that was to sedate him. But after…

Updates on WinWin (from Survivor Shelter)
Ms Ong has the following updates on WinWin after her visit to the vet’s today. WinWin’s blood PCV is 21%, which is an increase! Steroids reduced to 1 tablet per day. Her weight has also increased to 14.8kg. Ms Ong says the vet has prescribed antibiotics for this sore on the head.

Cow Mau’s check-up at the vet’s (gingivitis and eye discharge)
I requested for the vet to check Cow Mau during the house call today. Cow Mau has been having several problems lately. (1) He frequently paws his mouth during eating as though there is a lot of pain inside his mouth. This is despite 3 dentals and I’m certainly not putting him through another one.…

The Monsters vaccinated (booster)
I requested for a house call from the vet to do the Monsters annual vaccinations today. The reasons for the house call are (1) They are all so big and strong, I don’t think I can carry five carriers one by one from the parking bay to the clinic! and (2) They are so strong…
